Customs clearance is the set of procedures that take place to monitor, control and approve the entry or exit of goods in a specific territory during any type of international commercial operation. In this process, information regarding the import or export is declared to the customs authority (fiscal data of the exporter or importer, origin and destination of the goods, number of packages, gross weight, net weight, taxes to pay in the case of Import, …), being the Customs Agent the representative of the importer or exporter in front of the customs.
Documentation to be presented to the customs authorities to proceed correctly with customs clearance is the commercial invoice, the packing list and bill of lading. Depending on the type of merchandise or the country of destination, additional certificates may be required.
